I have witnessed many hunting episodes in my back yard over the years with various dogs and their prey (rabbit/birds). Some are successful for the hunter, others are successful for the prey. However, I have never seen a dog stalk, sneak, and tiptoe to the prey - ever. Yes, I said tiptoe. Yet Scout has now done it twice. A couple of weeks ago he tiptoed upon a young rabbit. Yesterday he tiptoed upon a bird. Both made nice snacks. He showed great patience and skill and I would suggest even restraint to get what he wanted (if he would only show such restraint from jumping on people!). It was really quite amazing to watch. Not so much for the rabbit and bird though.
