I havent been on here much at all lately. Ive been quite ill. I kept hearing about how great Turmeric is. If you havent heard about it, Google it. This past winter, after starting to use it, I had like sniffles or a slight cold or allergies off and on all winter, and then got really sick on March 1. That is the ONLY different or new anything that I have used. No new shampoo, deodorant, food, no new plants, no new pet or no new anything that would bother my allergies. I had a nasty sinus infection and bronchitis settled in as well. I lost my voice and was short of breath. The regular doctor was puzzled as to why I wasnt getting my voice back and still being short of breath. My pulse ox reading was always 98 or 99. I had 2 chest xrays and a CT Scan of my sinuses. I had 7 rounds of antibiotics, a round of steroids, an inhaler and still wasnt getting completely well. I couldnt say more than 2 words without having to struggle to breathe. The ENT felt that I was having some type of an allergic reaction. We went over my list of things that I was allergic to. He asked me if there had been anything new and I said no. I wasnt thinking about the Turmeric that I had started taking a while back. He did a scope of both nostrils and said everything looked ok, except for where my nose has been broken 2 times and I have some cartilage on the left side that does cause me issues, but its been since I was a teenager that it was broken the last time and since Ive been able to manage ok, unless I really have issues now or in the future, he didnt recommend surgery. He gave me a RX for an antihistamine and a really nasty nose emollient to use. One morning when I woke up, I had the very distinct thought What about the Turmeric? I thought to myself ... ah ha! So, I didnt have any in my usual morning protein shake. I actually started feeling better late that evening. I felt better each day after that! My voice is getting better and I am not losing my breath after a couple of words. I still am not back to normal yet, but I am getting better!!!!!! YAY! Either it is a huge coincidence, or I am allergic to Turmeric! But, even with still having the Turmeric after 6 days of being on the antihistamine, I was still sick, and then leaving the Turmeric out of my shake, I suddenly start feeling better, so, Im thinking no more Turmeric for me!!! I hope thats all it was and Ill continue to feel good and get completely well and get on with my life. This has been awful! The only known side effect of Turmeric that I could see online was possible stomach upset. It didnt upset my stomach, but sure did a number on my voice and breathing capabilities. I just thought Id share this in case anyone else has a similar reaction to Turmeric.
