The other day I went to a refugee detention centre. I met a man from Iran. He quoted Socrates, Im not totally sure of the quotes but it was something like when god gives the world a child, its his way of saying there is still hope. He and his son had spent 6 months on Christmas Island and were not allowed any visitors. He said that he knew he couldnt do anything for me, so the fact we were there gave him hope in humanity. It was one of the most powerful and humbling experience of my life. To think we can give hope to people that desperately need it, by just turning up. Seriously the best feeling.
