I havent posted a rant for awhile, so for whatever its worth, heres the one for today: I have absolutely no problem being called maam. Maybe it was being raised with manners....maybe its from living in Texas....I dont know, but when I am referred to as maam, I feel that the person is being respectful and their mother raised them right. It makes me feel that there are still gentlemen (and ladies) around. So, people can keep saying, Thank you, maam and excuse me, maam and I will welcome it. I will never say Dont call me that! because it is NOT a stupid indication or assumption of age; rather, its a sign of a well-bred, courteous upbringing. The offense is in the ridiculous notion that its a rude or offensive word. I taught my children to say Yes, sir and No, maam regardless of the persons age. So there ya go. :)
