I havent really commented much on the whole Sony debacle, mostly - TopicsExpress

I havent really commented much on the whole Sony debacle, mostly cause there are a lot of unknowns still. I will say this, freedom of expression is extremely important, however The Interview is not the first film to have this happen. Films have been pulled from various distributors because of protest, or even censored in the past. Hollywood frequently censored their films to appease Nazi Germany is an old example. But even platforms like Netflix has pulled films because of complaints. The MPAA censors movies on a daily basis. It is a terrible thing, but that is what happens in a profit driven market. I am to happy to see people demanding creative freedom, but kinda frustrated that people waited until a Seth Rogen/James Franco movie was pulled before things started getting heated. I mean a threat of a terrorist act and a Seth Rogen film is what it takes to get people angry. The sad thing is, things wont change. I mean North Korea is probably going to be put on a leash by China and there will be some form of a Cyber Security bill passed by Congress and probably something by the United Nations. But in the end only the hacking issue will be addressed.
