I havent yet seen Philomena nor heard its Oscar-nominated score, - TopicsExpress

I havent yet seen Philomena nor heard its Oscar-nominated score, but I already admire Alexandre Desplats film music. A lot of movie goers dont realize how much some film scores contribute to the emotional power of the films they accompany. French ballet composer Maurice Jarres scores to Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago and Italian composer Ennio Morricones scores to Sergio Leone Clint Eastwood westerns like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and the Robert De Niro & Jeremy Irons drama The Mission, considered by many - including myself - to be the greatest film score ever written, come to mind. Even some popular songs can be so powerful in some scenes, like Sarah McLachlans Answers at the end of Jodie Fosters film The Brave One, that they can almost dwarf the film itself.
