I hear a lot of people saying feminism should just be called equality, since egalitarianism is inherently the ideal. While I can understand the thought, I cant understand how anyone over five can fail to take the next logical step and understand why that is rationally flawed. If justice, if fairness are the aim, then obviously the focus must be on the aggrieved or disenfranchised party to bring their status up to par. Would these idiots also suggest the NAACP just focus on people? This kind of thinking is actually a very cheap and effective tactic for deflecting focus off of minority groups, and off of the injustice, malfeasance, and impediments that are inflicted on them. When you move the conversation away from the Jews, from the women, from the handicapped, from the aboriginal, youre also moving it away from the institutional power and prejudice in favor of the Germans, the patriarchy, the able-bodied, the imperialists. You are moving away from the point, looking to sink countermeasures and social engineering in a quagmire of philosophical masturbation and empty semantics. This (a)rational smokescreening serves the interests of those possessed of disproportionate social credit who would keep it, and keep it to themselves. If what you WANT is equality, you have to focus on the party being denied it. You cant achieve a goal just by shouting mission accomplished.
