I heard The media claiming that global demand for chocolate is outstripping supply and 5 years from now the world will not have enough. :( - They say the reasons are disease, drought, and the displacement of cocoa tree groves with rubber and corn instead in Africa. The price of cocoa has risen by over 80 percent in the last 20 years, a clear sign that supply is not keeping up with demand. Did you know? Africa is responsible for 70% of the world’s cocoa production. Ouch! Manufacturers will charge more, and people will buy less. Love Choc? STOCK UP!! Chocolate snacks will for sure contain less cocoa, and more of the other stuff – sugars, nuts, milk, and filler ingredients. Expect more processing and additives in your candy bars… :(
