I heard a commentator on the radio saying that he thinks the Ebola - TopicsExpress

I heard a commentator on the radio saying that he thinks the Ebola scare will be over, 2 weeks from now. Hes delusional. The epidemic is steadily spreading in West Africa, and has now trickled into Europe and the US. Its only going to continue to spread. It wont happen overnight, but I have a bad feeling that were in the early stages of a major catastrophe, like the world hasnt seen since the Great Influenza of 1919 (and maybe worse). The math is scary.....for every person who gets Ebola, 2 more people become infected by them. Ebola isnt a new virus....weve known about it since the mid-70s. It was always confined to remote rural areas in Africa though. Whats different now is that it spread into a couple major cities in Africa earlier this year, and in countries that are ill-equipped to deal with it. Unless its dealt with in Africa by the world community, it *will* rage out-of-control eventually across the globe. Its not a matter of dealing with the handful of patients we have here in the US, and then the scare is over. It has to be dealt with in Africa. I dont think the US has a choice but to take the lead......no other country will take that role but us.
