I heard some fellow proclaim today the wonderful fact, considering being American by birth, no matter how low ones station, with hard work, one could always work oneself into the top 1% of wage earners. This may have been the case when Andrew Carnegie was born but is hardly reality today. One can not work ones way into such rare air of financial wealth. No can be however be born to it, or accomplish it through craft (the reader may use their own loose definition of that term). A child born poor today has about as much chance of joining the 1%, as they do of winning a Super Bowl ring or flying on the space shuttle.
