I hesitate to post this. I am posting it because I have been having these conversations with a lot of folks. I have a lot of friends who express that they respect my faith, but feel like I am an outlier. Im not. In fact I rely heavily on my Christian community, the Church, to shape my life and character. A lot of Christians feel as if the religion has been hijacked in America. It has, But it is not as simple as this author makes it sound to repair that. And just because Jesus is not a republican, does not make him a democrat at all. That is just more evidence that we see the world with culture war lenses no matter how anachronistic that may be, as if these two parties have existed forever and as if their moral platforms make cogent sense. They dont. But for the record, I am Christian, first and foremost, I am Christian and I think it means something. Lets start by letting that be complicated.
