I hope I explain this correctly regarding the effort towards re-coding The Affordable Healthcare.gov website! The world wide networking system is empowered with sophisticated technology that has been tested and proven to successfully run such a complex engineered web system. (Microsoft is user friendly and is one of the most popular) This software is composed of the most common needs of the majority of business owners needs and therefore no longer rely on re-coding its functions, but downloading patches to add to its operation until a complete software application including the new features can be released to the public. Now another problem erupts!the software upgrade can be to costly. the new software configurations may require additional space that the hard drive does not have. Companies ask that employees remove all personal documents, games, images, and pictures from hard drive in an attempt to free up space. Sometimes this does the trick and other times larger hard drives have to be purchased to accommodate new software changes. Some companies that are separate from (WAN) World Wide networking still rely on Java coding programming. This language gets the job done, but only can do business with its own kind, which keeps it limited and unable to take on new business world wide. Have you ever opened a computer document and could not read it because it was nothing more than codes and symbols that you could not understand. However when the document was typed for example over at your local library then it was saved on a flash drive and loaded on your home computer hard drive and when opened it is now changed into another format that cannot be understood. The reason that computer software used at the local library is not on your computer. In order to be able to communicate, user would have to purchase licensed copy of the same program and install it on their home computer to solve the problem. Another downside of Java is a lot of manual commands. Microsoft has developed the ribbon/tool bar that does these commonly used functions for the user and have help screen, online tutorial to assist or remind if user should forget. Users can easily create, design their own database. I once created a Church Tithing Database to track all members contributions so that a year-end report could be generated to file their income tax as a credit. This is so much easier that the manual coding. But the security of Java ran programming is said to be more securer than Microsoft which is known to have been prone to security vulnerability or being attacked with a virus that can wipe out a companys database of stored information. The fixes and choices are there and there are solutions. The cost and the market opportunity for business is running neck to neck in making the perfect deal. As for the healthcare website, it is only limited because of the bottleneck problem that is slowing down the whole process. The cost!
