I hope all my Appalachian Americans friends are having a happy, peaceful Merry Christmas. And to the many of you that for whatever reason, are alone like me on this wonderful Holy Holiday, I hope you are basically happy , warm and healthy. For lots of years I tried to pattern my life after what I thought (from movies, tv, magazines and others lying about their perfect life. It took a bunch of lifes lessons, ups and downs, and a strong reality check to realize that ones happiness can be anothers misery. So if I can manage to stay somewhere in the middle, Ive learned to be somewhat satisfied. I love Christmas, love the decorating, the shows (especially the old black and white movies about Christmas), the friendliness that even scrooges cant destroy, and the best part .....being with family. If I feel a pity party starting, I just quickly remind myself of all the blessings I have. And that I have had a really good life. But the one good thing about a semi pity party, I allow myself to stuff myself on bits of all the good Holiday food, especially home-made candy. It works every time......UNTIL I realize I am about 45 pounds heavier than I was 10 years go. MERRY CHRISTMAS YALL....just a few days til were thinking about New Years.
