I hope they refresh the format too, along with the host. There is now a huge opportunity for NBC News to use the oldest continuing television program to become a more robust mechanism for accountability in Washington, taking full advantage of social media, mobile devices, the World Wide Web and the reputation of Meet the Press as the preeminent place to go before the nation on a Sunday morning to discuss the week that was -- or the one that lies ahead. If Chuck Todd can use his wit, intelligence, political acumen and sources to make the show a must watch for his fellow political junkies, it may gain enough of audience to make it worth a politician or public official going before the cameras to be grilled in front of the cameras. I hope the network makes the most of the moment. I fear it will not, just bringing Todd into the same format, or looking to recall the Tim Russert era.
