Special in that the proceeds will go to developing the musical talent of the next generation of musicians like Shelley Carrol, Wendell Sneed and Roger Boykin. These incredibly talented Dallas jazz musicians lead the Thriving Minds Youth Jazz Orchestra ( youtube/watch?v=jFVr8chVsNE ) which is part of a free program open to children 12 years of age and older. Classes take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturdays at the South Dallas Cultural Center, 3400 S. Fitzhugh Ave., Dallas. So not only will the cost of your ticket go to supporting local artists (a lot of whom are donating their time or getting a lot less than they deserve to make this evening possible) but it will also go to supporting a program geared toward training REAL musicians.
