I interviewed a passionate guy who is a sports person. He is a runner, has won many medals in different categories of the sport. He has participated in marathon and was a runner-up. His father is a farmer who has ambition of making his son a proud engineer. I asked him what his dream is? He answered without a single thought, ‘I want to win gold medal in Olympics in running.’ I was not just surprised but was happy listening to a such bold dream. I asked him, ‘What are the challenges you feel you have to achieve your dream?’ Then came the real story. ‘Since my father is a farmer, I cannot afford even healthy food all the time. I need good food, a professional coach and that’s it. I will be on my way to the Olympics.’ Upon asking more questions, he tells me that he runs for two hours in the morning starting at four oclock. He then lowers his face, his eyes turn misty and with a sobbing voice, he says, ‘I cannot follow my dream because I do not have any resources and my father wants me to become an engineer and not go into sports but I really want to go to the Olympics.’ I saw that burning desire and that dying passion in his eyes but my heart cried out for him since he is helpless. You should have seen the guy expressing his dream. Not all of us have such big dreams. He is already sweating it out early in the morning and is chasing his dream every day with a ray of hope that one day, the sun would shine in his favor. I was so moved and inspired by him that I and my colleague hugged him, shared our contact for any help but on the way back in car, I was telling my colleague, ‘Man! How can someone be so passionate about something and yet be so grounded? People like him move me, inspire me and question my ambitions and dreams. He was a hero, a real hero.’ I wish if we all could help him achieve his dream. A BIG salute to you, bravo!
