Fairy Dreams She was a Fairy that danced in the light of the moon With orange hair braided down below her waist, Toes turned down like a ballerina in dance With flowers on her feet... Wearing a yellow sunflower bonnet, Her body green as a stem on a plant. Her eyes hazel to match her dress Ready for the pixie prance... How she glistened in the dew drops Of the summers warm rain that fell, Upon the yellow Sunflower she had alighted on, So happy her smiling eyes... That spoke only to those that believe, Hidden from the rest of the world. Only those minds of the imagination Could stare upon her beauty... Visable to only those with dreams in their hearts. Her skirt just above her knees, Reminds me of playing dress up as a child In costumes made for princesses... I hunger to go to the land of Fairies You know the ones that dance in the moonlight Carefree with heels kicked up Just for their delight... She frees your soul when you gaze upon her And takes you to the land of make believe Wraps you up in green leaves and orange tulips And smells like fresh lilacs... I gaze upon the delicate petals of her form Wishing I could be like her So petite graceful in her flight Like a butterfly just out of her cocoon... She carries a message to all that can hear her Whispering anything is possible if you just believe Open your mind to the impossible And weave silken dreams in your sleep... Hold fast to this pleasure of delight Bestowed upon so very few For it takes place in your heart of dreams That puts a smile upon you... As we slumber in our sleep There in Fairyland Delighting our soul with laughter As she dances in the light of day... Shining in the dew drops of our dreams That we weave into the night Promising the smile of a new day Awaiting her next flight! (C) Eva Marie Dunlap (Cagley) All Rights Reserved
