I just cannot wrap my head around the seemingly sudden belief by Christians that the Earth is only around 600 years old. When I was young and in Baptist summer camp, they filled our head with a ton of stuff about music being satanic, etc., but I never heard any mention of the age of the Earth, they simply taught Genesis and everybody went about their business. There seems to be this big push in the Christian community to assert the age of the Earth at 6000. Didnt Ben Nye even debate some creationist that held the same assertion a little while ago? It seems that take on the age of the Earth is a form of regression, youd think the Christians would want to embrace some of science and say, yes, the Earth is very old, but we have no way of knowing how long a day really was when God created the Earth, or something to that effect. Actually now that I think about it, I had heard that reason growing up. But now it seems some Christians are waging a war against science (or maybe STILL waging a war).
