I just cant bring the words to articulate my thoughts on todays announcement of the procurement of 58 new JSF. A faulty plane with a blown out budget, delayed delivery time frames and a complete luxury. While I agree that it keeps friends like Nic Jarrett in a job, I seriously cant understand the logic at all. I know we have a dated fleet of Hornets and the interim Super Hornets are few in number but 58 JSF.... Its a joke. 60% will be at any one time in maintenance or non-operational, 30% will be sitting on the tarmac and only used for daily training and its only the last 10% that might actually be deployed to do something significant. Surely that money could be better spent if not other areas of the budget such as Health & Education (which mind you we will soon copay $6 to see a GP) then on real areas within Defence such as infrastructure, training, quality deployable & garrison capabilities or perhaps more heavy lifters like the C-5 which serve regular genuine purposes. Ive always said Defence is a world leader in wasting money and fail miserable at spending it wisely. Bit like the last few Governments really.... Complete and utter failings. The people advising the decision makers need to have their employment and influence terminated. Rant over!!!
