I just completed a conversation with my daughter about practicing shooter drills. I also talked to my daughter about why the shooter at the Columbia Mall did what he did. That was my eight-year-old. My 17-year-old was 15 minutes away of showing up to the mall on Saturday morning. I have a series of emails on how to talk to your children with incidents like this. Why is a persons right to own a gun greater then my childrens right to life. I will work up an open letter to anybody who is willing to convince me that owning a gun is superior to having a life. More importantly my childrens lives. I will make my arguments and look forward to anybody who can convince me that owning a gun is more important than a childs life. This hits too close to home and I will not except the status quo. A true debate on why a right is better than another needs to happen and it needs to happen now. We must have change. I do not know what that change is. If we can free slaves and we can give women the right to vote and a fair and equal voice we surely can come to an answer on this. I will take my time to research this and post when I believe my argument is complete. Keep an eye out.
