My silly mom! Sister and mom went to Tanners market today to buy apples for applesauce and fresh eating, pies, etc. I found out they were there, so I asked her to pick me up a half bushel of Jonathans and Macs. A smaller of Goldens to make pies with since I have this friend whos favorite pie is apple. lol...You know who you are! So they get back in town, come to my house to get money and drop off my apples...........ready for the kicker here?.......they only brought me Macantosh....she got flustered with so many people, and shes old, so she forgot the rest of my order. My mom...shes a killer. Then I was looking up some info on the web, and saw a pretty nice recipe for canning apples, which Ive never done before, and now I think Im going to try a bath of those. They have to be cheaper than peaches this year. Good thing the boys like apples. I also have to make up a batch of apple butter since Ive only 1 jar left, that and my frozen applesauce, and a batch of strawberry preserves, and maybe one recipe of blueberry. Not many eat blueberry anymore. It used to be one of my favorites when I was a kid. Oh so yummy. I may even go for some chunky applesauce as well. Plus I still need to make my mixed berry pancake syrup. I think Ill be all done canning once I get that all completed. Whats funny, I dont even usually eat jelly or jams, but I do eat applesauce (especially on pancakes), and I will eat canned fruit (if theres any left once the boys get to the jars), and I will eat syrup on pancakes or french toast.
