I just finished reading a book that was so remarkable – so complete – that I’ve been sitting here for a half hour trying to write something that would convey to you how much I loved it. The best I can come up with is this: after I read the last page, I turned back to the beginning to read it again so I could keep the characters with me a little longer – something I can’t remember ever doing before. The book? A Long Time Gone, by Karen White. I’ve read many of her books and enjoyed each of them, but this story is just so compelling, it stands alone, in my very humble opinion. If you’re looking for a book to get lost in, put this one at the top of your TBR list.
