I just found out something about the Affordable Care Act. You do - TopicsExpress

I just found out something about the Affordable Care Act. You do not have to have insurance if you cannot afford it. Insurance that exceeds 8 percent of your household income is considered unaffordable and you can use an exemption with the Internal Revenue Service. I happen to know that Health Central Hospital will reduce your bill by 75 percent if you do not have insurance. Last time I was there for high blood pressure in the emergency room the cost was about $1380.00. My cost would have been $345.00. My recent surgery at Shands was $65,000.00. Without insurance my cost would have been $16,250.00. It really looks like the $642.00 a month that I pay for health insurance is really paying off. Can someone enlighten me as to what the problem is and why so many people are complaining?
