I just got back from lunch. A NEW (to me) find in Brownsboro, TX - TopicsExpress

I just got back from lunch. A NEW (to me) find in Brownsboro, TX by the name of Francines Soul Food, owned and run by David Nelson. He is the proprietor AND cook, waiter, and bus boy. Learning to cook from his Mamma, it only seemed right that the restaurant was named after his late Mother, Francine. Four of us went to lunch and the three of them all had the Big Cheeseburger. It came loaded with fries and looked like a pretty good option (for those of the less adventurous nature.) I, on the other hand, am always in search of the perfect CFS (Chicken Fried Steak.) I may have found this steak as the one I had today was VERY GOOD! Sometimes you have to take a bite of crust to ever reach the meat - but NOT so today. The meat was well seasoned BEFORE cooking, lightly breaded and well fried. The meat could be cut with a fork! It comes with two sides (I opted for the traditional mashed potatoes, and black eyed peas) - and of course, the cream gravy over the steak and potatoes. Sweet tea was the drink of the day (by me) where the others had CocaCola. All of his food is cooked to order and starts FRESH. No cans opened or frozen items to deal with. Dont expect much in the line of decor - just a clean, down to earth place to eat and talk with friends. So if you want a new place to eat, drive to Brownsboro on Hwy 31. Its a little hard to find the first time, but, if you get to the Valero station, youve gone too far. Theres a large parking lot on the left side of the white building with glass in the front. Ill go back! And, just tell him, Santa sent me!
