I just had a funny phone call... I locked myself out of my account to pay our electric bill online. So the website shows a number to call to have it unlocked. I called the number and I go thru all the normal menus. Nothing applied so I chose more info when that prompt was given. Usually by this point I know I have at least 5 - 10 minutes until a real person answers... Then suddenly a lady comes on right away asking frantically... Is anyone trapped or electrocuted? Are there wires down? Is there a fire that I should be reporting to the local fire department? Is someone not breathing or burnt? Has someone spliced in to my service? Are children playing with the electrical lines? And a bunch of other crazy questions. I said, Woah, no maam nothing like that. I have no emergency to report. She gets snippy and says, Well sir I dont appreciate you calling the emergency line. This line is for dangerous issues and you could be putting lives at risk! I said Listen lady, I didnt call any emergency number. I called the 800 number listed on the website to unlock my account, when prompted for more information I said... more info. She goes, Oh dear lord in heaven, what did they screw up now? She apologized, unlocked my account and I made a joke about me appreciating them making my locked account an emergical situation. The whole thing was odd and made me laugh. So many comments to make about their line of emergency questioning. Are there children playing with the electrical lines? Is this really a thing? If so, they are some dumb ass children. Kids, stay away from any downed wires ok? Thanks.
