I just had the most worst ending to a Sunday church worship in all - TopicsExpress

I just had the most worst ending to a Sunday church worship in all times of going today. So I have been attending First Covenant church, Sunday worship in Rancho Corodva, on a regular basis since April. The church Pastors have been holding sermons focused on explaining what The First Covenant Church is and about for several weeks as their main topic. Today they spoke to the present portion of the congregation about a proposal regarding the future of the church. Their plan is to change the name of the church which has been the same for the past 16 years. They are intending to do this because the church pastors, went into midtown Sac and video recorded, a handful of people who they had asked a question to. The question was What does Covenant mean? the lil amount of people they showed videos of could not answer the question. The origin of covenant is:A covenant is a contract or agreement between two or more parties. Covenant is how God has chosen to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus. These truths, revealed in the Bible, are the basis of Christianity. The Bible is a covenant document. The Old and New Testaments are really Old and New Covenants. The word testament is Latin for Covenant. So as I look up this explanation the pastor has continued to say that the congregation has the privilege to assist in establishing a new name to the church. He follows that up with this There are index cards under each seat so please write out your choice. But do not write something and say God said to me that the new name should be this while using a condescending tone. That had me deeply bothered so I walked to the stage while the pastor was still talking but I did not verbally interrupt or try to receive his attention in any way other than I stood for him to notice me. This was the end of the sermon. I wanted to address the proposal with a few questions but I was not going to be disrespectful so I patiently waited as I looked over the 300-400 people with their eyes on me. I talked with two pastors and an Elder immediately after the sermon as their was a police officer standing behind the whole time. I was respectful, calm, and listening. I wanted to express my feelings about the abandonment of the original name. I expressed that when people dont know something then it is another persons opportunity to educate them. The pastors repeated themselves that its not worth keeping the name First Covenant because people dont understand what it means. So this is preventing the church from expanding. I asked What if more than half of this congregation want the name to remain the same? The elder said Well if that is to happen then we the elders will put everything under review but the name will not be requested to remain the same. I asked Why is that? He did not answer. I walked outside and I talked with a few people about the football games today. I was then approached by two pastors and asked if I was okay. I said I was. They asked what it was that had me feeling like that so I repeated myself. A third pastor approached and he immediately said that he had another sermon to hold and that I needed to come back another time with a demanding tone. I said I did not ask for you to walk over here and to talk to me about this. So you can walk away and do what you need to do but I will still be standing here. I said that because I was discussing it with the first two pastors who approached and asked to speak about it. The third pastor then said Well Ill just have the officer remove you if you do not leave. I could not believe he was so closed minded about my feelings. I said back Its not that Im not going to leave the premises but I am having a discussion with these two pastors. So if no one wants to talk about it then walk away because I will talk for as long as you stand here. We all walked away from each other and I had continued the conversation with a person who I was originally talking about football to but then talked about the current matter of the third pastor reacting the way he did. Me and this man talked for about 10 minutes about scripture, and personal feelings to the matter while the police officer stood behind me once again. The officer then said that I was to leave the property. I said I am just having a conversation. That is messed up youre forcing me into a decision. He said I am not forcing you to do anything I said Yes you are. Youre obviously going to arrest me If I dont leave right now. He said Well, yes you will be arrested if you do not leave. I asked Well what if I wanted to have a prayer with someone I know inside? He then began walking towards me as he said No. I had no choice but to end the conversation and leave to prevent the situation from becoming more serious but this was just unbelievable. This was a church topic brought to everybody present at the church and I only expressed how I felt the name should stay the same in a all around calm and respectful manner.
