I just heard from Madhura Chakraborty, who is far away from her desk and would like for me to share: Ginger, the restaurant currently being nonviolently boycotted by citizens, has gone to court complaining that people are gathering outside its premises and trying to disturb peace. They are trying to put pressure on the movement created by Take Back the Night Calcutta and other citizens. But Madhura has spoken to a lawyer friend of ours, who confirms that peaceful assemblies like the one TBTN has organised for tonight are lawful. Participants, when you do go there tonight, please be aware that the restaurant employees and the police may try to pressurise or provoke you - please remain nonviolent and steadfast.
