I just posted this in response to a post on another page regarding how nice it will be that Americans will be free to visit Cuba... Yes.... Cuba is a nice place to visit (it used to be A LOT nicer before the Castro regime allowed it to crumble to pieces) and people from all over the world do so regularly. I would love to visit Cuba. However, what most people overlook and fail to understand is the fact that the people of Cuba dont have the FREEDOM to travel to see other nice places around the world (nor can they afford to based on the meager monthly income most receive). Also, we live in a country where we have the FREEDOM to disagree with the government, we can stage as many protests we want for whatever cause we believe in, we have the FREEDOM (even if in poor taste and judgement ) to wear Che Guevarra T-shirts, Obama Sucks T-shirts, and to express our dislike and to disagree with our government all we want, and we can take action based on our displeasure and beliefs through our FREE and democratic election process. Try to walk through the streets of Havana wearing a t-shirt that says Castro sucks or praising anything USA. In Cuba, you will be taken to jail for the mere act of disagreeing with the regime and will be imprisoned for years for organizing, writing, protesting or expressing any view that isnt the official stance dictated by the Castro regime. There will never be nor should there be any normal relations with a tyranny that has for over 50 years ignored and stolen from its people basic Human Rights and FREEDOMS. This needs to at the forefront of any negotiations and discussions about normalizing relations. #cuba #freedom
