I just posted this to Southeastern Trail Runs and I want to be - TopicsExpress

I just posted this to Southeastern Trail Runs and I want to be sure everyone see it, not just those that are linked to STR. I want to start with a personal note to everyone that ran the series and/or volunteered to help this year. You have make the Southeastern Trail Series more successful than I could have ever have dreamed. It is such an honor to have gotten to know so many incredible people over the last two years. Thank you ALL so much. I cant wait for the awards party to see all of you again. (I think we may need to find a new location for the party. I dont think everyone will fit in our house this time.) Birmingham absolutely has the BEST race volunteers anywhere. I have run a lot of trail races in a bunch of places and you guys are the best... Thank you all so much for giving up your Saturday (All of you Saturday) to help make the Tranquility Lake 50K so much fun and such a great experience for everyone. And the runners did a pretty good job too! Congratulations to all. First, I have to thank Raymond Reinders and Terri Bassard for taking care of the timing duties ALL DAY and NIGHT. They both stayed to the very end. (I even had time to run up to the lake to try to retrieve a dog stuck in the lake - Its owner beat me to the task) A special thanks to all the Peavine Falls Aid Station Crew, Tony Fiore, Jenny Rankin, Sachiko Green, Scott Daigle, Matt Sholar, Nicole Behnke and Bob Huie. (Bob kept appearing at the Redbud too.) And then there was the Redbud team, Jim Barnes, Jessa Freeman, Sonia Steely, John Dagnon and Chef Chris Benhke who took over the post-race food preparation. I even saw Xing Wu at the aid station for a while. Mary Campbell and Nicole Benhke (Is she listed twice? yes she is.) went beyond the call of duty sweeping the entire course and finishing way after dark. Thank You so much. I also have to thank Suman Silwal for bringing his famous veggie chili to the race. (Is that Sherpa chili?), Donna (blinterfoot) Arrington for bringing her awesome pudding, Jim (Mr Krispy Kreme) Barnes for the donuts. I think they are trying to get me fat! And Olivia Affuso, the coffee was great. And Jim, those were awesome pictures you took all day of the finishers. Thank you all. And special thanks to Dan Ripple. We totally miscalculated how much food we would need and he saved us by running out and picking up a bunch of Pizzas. Please forgive me if I missed someone and let me know! I will not know what to do with myself for the next 3 1/2 months. Oh yeah, there is the party in January. We will keep everyone posted on that and hope to see you all then.
