I just read someone refer to me as a Nietzschean philosopher. Thats actually rare that anyone says that of me. At first it made me wonder, as I occasionally do, whether I am a Nietzschean or not. But then I realized, I really dont want to even try to know that. Because I dont want to either try to be a Nietzschean or try not to be a Nietzschean. I think for myself. I read and incorporate anything I can find that will help me be clearer on issues. For a long time I sympathetically read and systematized a lot of Nietzsche. I still love reading Nietzsche and I evolved philosophically through a process of interacting with his works more than anyone elses. But Im not trying to be a Nietzschean. Im just trying to work out what I think is true and trying to be a Nietzschean or conscientiously conceiving of myself as one seems like the wrong path to getting things right.
