I just read that Thokozile Masipa, the 66 year old judge presiding over the Oscar Pistorious case grew in poverty in the South African township of Soweto and became a lawyer in her 40s after working as a social worker, journalist and newspaper editor. She became the second black woman to be appointed as a judge in 1998. Wow what an achievement and inspiration. Her life highlights its not where you start its where you finish and that age is not a barrier to changing careers and achieving greatness in a different field.
