I just received a letter today from the hospital and the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation concerning the donor cartilage in my nose. I didnt give to much thought about it when the doctor said donor cartilage right after my surgery (because the tumor had mishaped the cartilage so much, it had to be removed as well and a new piece grafted on). It hits you a little bit more when you get a letter asking if you would like to write the family of the donor and thank them for following thru with the wishes of their family member. As insignificant as a little piece of a new nose might seem, its still pretty cool and moves you in a big way.
