I just received this from a close aquaintance. My response: I cannot in good conscience forward this email on to anyone else. I believe Mrs. Sirleaf is doing a fabulous job for Liberia. Believe me, it could be worse. The are discontents in Liberia and the diaspora that are unhappy they are not eating at the trough. I bet if you put 10 of them in office, 8 would be more corrupt the the current folks they are calling corrupt. NO government is free of corruption and I think no one else has the international credibility which is helping us get the level of foreign assistance we need to move ahead. There are problem areas still but I will work with the devil I know that the angel I dont know. Heres wjat was sent to me. The Editor, Questions for our President in simple English; Do you love Liberia at heart? Do you really love Liberians? What happen to all the big big promises you made to Liberian about health care, development, and education? What your administration is doing to crack down on corruption in Liberia? You put fear in journalist who tried to expose them. Why most of the corrupt government officials are from your inner circles? Why you compensating these Diaspora and local presidential appointee with these huge sum of monthly paycheck? Why so many over-sea travelling is about with your government officials? What are they bring back home, (advance corruption)? What are their achievements so far? Just spending tax payer’s money because there is money allocated for travelling purposes, does it mean any one can take pleasure trip around the world on government expense? What have they achieved for this wasteful attitude? The last time I remember, the foreign minister of Sierra Leone had made 4 over sea trips in two years. The last time I know one of your government officials had made 18 over sea trips to Minnesota alone to see his girlfriend on tax payer’s expense. Your Maritime boss travelled to Ghana almost every week-end for pleasure purposes. The total number so far for his Ghana trip is 132 trips since this year in a first class seat (Compare him to NY city major Bloomberg?) Lodging in Novotel lavishing tax payer’s money calling it his own. Oldma, are you running boys scout or government? How long will it take you to dismiss some of these unproductive ministers and Managing Directors? I always hear from people ‘the oldma is trying, she’s trying’, is it that the purpose we elected you for to try? We want you to do it not to try. People can tried for two or three years, not in your second term you keep trying, when you actually going to do it oldma? Trying is a failure word that people used to back their fail leader. Where is our “Iron” lady? Is it Mary Broh the new Iron lady? At least we can see a little bit of the work she is doing. She is not trying; she’s doing her work very well. The last time I saw Mary Broh was at foreign ministry, the passport section, when she enters the building the whole section turned quiet. I said wow! Woman enter men tie their tail behind them. Despite she was in yellow looking suit (horrible to me) everyone tie their tails. She’s her own security, she doesn’t need one……… I admired her. Oldma Ellen, You cause the living condition in Liberia to look like “either you get richer or you die poorer. There is no middle class. You so called Finance Minister open his big mouth everyday how he’s going to improve the living condition of the Liberian people, while he is banking in the United States and Saudi Arabia. Oldma, are you for us or you against us Liberia? According to the Guardian Newspapers in Sierra Leone, 75% of their government officials in Sierra Leone are from the Diaspora, and they are doing very good keeping corruption on a lower level, and about 65% of the of presidential appointee in Liberia are from the Diaspora, they’re doing very poor in Liberia, in corruption they’re very excellent. Oldma, you’re not helping these guys, you are directly harming them because most of them will retire very young. No one will allow them to work in any government in Liberia after your term expires in 4 years. Instead of guiding them, you open door for them to steal more. God Bless Liberia, long live Liberians.
