I just saw 3 posts within 24 hours of each other complaining about our generation, there is no such thing as a unanimous generation, everyone is comprised of different values and beliefs, we all share the same age, but further than that we share little else, the problem is that those of us our age in the spotlight of the world are self-entitled social climbers, and the less astute among us truly believe that the key to happiness and popularity is living like we see in the media, people truly think that going around saying the same thing as everyone else will lead them to their goals, but saying and acting and dressing the exact same way as everyone else makes it impossible for anyone to not like you, it makes no sense in anyway, our generation lives only for itself, we need to have iPhones, we need to be on tumblr and that kind of shit because our opinions are so god damn important right? This is a generation that has been over nurtured, we have been given to much freedom and as a result we believe we are more than we actually are. Yes, you may be different, but that by no means separates you from everyone else, everyone is different, and in that aspect were all the same. Saying that our generation is broken is downright false, there are some downright amazing, incredible people our age, Im talking more Malala Yousafzai here, not Jennifer Laurence because someone stole a picture of her tits. We are not identifiable under one ideal, no generation is, but the people who seem to give so much respect are the ones that we are judged on, and the ones that some people genuinely learn from, and that, is whats wrong. The phrase be yourself is thrown around so much, that does not equate to being weird or edgy, people dont even think for themselves, and if they do no one argues with the majority opinion because were all scared of being isolated.
