I just saw that it was CUs homecoming today. Last year, Josh was going to go to Sea Foam Stadium to catch the game and then go out with some of his former teammates/college friends. It rained all day so he opted out of the game, telling the guys to let him know when they were leaving so he could meet them at Buchmans house. Dylans shit faced! Im gonna have to catch up! Whenever he went out with his friends, I only asked him three things: 1) Tell me when you get there. 2) Be safe. 3) Come back in the same condition that you left. I never asked him to not do anything stupid, because he wouldve broken that promise every time. He called as he pulled up to Buchmans to tell me he had arrived safely that afternoon and then Isla and I went about our day. That night around 11 I think, my phone was ringing. I answered, groggy. Babe, are you sleeping? Yes, Josh. Whats wrong? Nothing! I just miss you, thats all. Can I come home? Josh, what the hell? Where is everyone? Why? A bunch of guys decided to get a cab ride downtown to the bars after cards. Some guys are passed out. I stopped drinking awhile ago. Why didnt you go to the bars? I figured itd be bar close shortly after we got there. Can I come home? No! Sleep it off there. But I quit drinking... You are asking me because you know better. You drank a lot in a short amount of time. We are sleeping. Please be safe and stay put. Youre right, Sugar Foot. (Always a suck up when he drank. Or ESPECIALLY after he drank). He was probably home by 7 the next morning. I told the guys you were knocked up. Joshua D! Who did you tell? I swear he named off ten people, several I didnt know personally. I was about six weeks along. We hadnt told family and here he was, blurting it out to a group of guys over a drunk game of cards. I had to! Those guys dont care. They wont tell anyone... (This happened on a few occasions last fall too. He was just so damn excited.) Happy he got that last hurrah with his college buddies in honor of CUs homecoming. Happy he got to share the news on his terms. Love you more, babe.
