I just spent my afternoon with three other shelter volunteer working with shelter staff to try and save these animals! Two of these volunteers worked nonstop getting photos of all the dogs to post on Facebook hoping for a savior for some of them all the way to the last possible minute. The other volunteer and myself made a trip to Petco to purchase a cat cage with funds that our group has raised. This will give the cats and kittens some more time. Then the really hard part of trying to hold it together as we walked from kennel to kennel discussing every possible option for each dog...calmly, but certainly not without tears and heavy hearts! This did prove productive and thanks to networking and a little strategic thinking, several lives have been saved....for now. I then sat with a poor little pitty who is not going to be so lucky. I cried and spoke softly to her and looked into her eyes with every positive and apologetic thought that I had. It was probably more love than she had ever received in her entire life. This is what 4 volunteers accomplished....
