I just talked to a lady in Arkansas who had inquired about adopting one of our puppies. She sounded very upset when I told her the adoption fee is $125 for a fully vetted dog. This is part of the reason why some rescues wont deal with in-state adoptions. Do some people in Arkansas not understand the cost of fully vetting a dog? Rescue groups lose money when they adopt out for $125. I try to give local adopters a chance, but the time Im wasting on people who are just so in-grateful and ignorant makes me want to just adopt north where they seem to appreciate the opportunity of adding a healthy, fully vetted dog to their family for less than what it would cost for them to have it vetted. Just my rant to blow off some rescue steam. Going to go drink a margarita and shut up now.
