I just told Hazel Cinderella--specifically the Disney version--as I put her to bed. I have some questions / issues that maybe you can help me with: 1. Cinderella has to be out of the ball by midnight because all of the magic will disappear. Except the glass slippers, right? Is there some kind of different expiration date on magical glass? Did the fairy godmother explain this? Or is it just a plot contrivance? Could they not have written one line of dialogue to make this okay? 2. They live in a kingdom where, apparently, everyone has a very VERY distinct shoe size such that one persons shoe couldnt possibly fit another person. Just saying. 3. Okay, so this may just be the Disney version, but the stepmother trips the Duke as hes about to put the slipper on Cinderellas foot. The slipper smashes. But wait! Cinderella says I have the other slipper and produces the other one. They try it on her. It fits! OF COURSE IT FITS! SHE JUST GAVE IT TO THEM! Why are they surprised that the slipper SHE provided fits her foot? How do they know its the same slipper? Its known far and wide what the Prince is doing--couldnt anyone have made a slipper that fits her for just such an occasion? And if theyre going to just take her word for it that its the match of the broken one, theres no need to try it on her anyway! So why do they bother to try it on her? GOSH!
