I just wanted to give you all a bit of a heads up as to what The Cancer Mavericks is all about ...along with the occasional educational seminar aimed at prevention, i.e. the Say NO to Cancer events, we are also planning to run regular support groups for people with cancer; - this will be known as the Cancer Mavericks Club. We plan to run a full years programme, the first 6 weeks being an intensive programme, meeting on a weekly basis, and then with follow up monthly support meetings for the rest of the year. We aim to have around 12 people in each group, and it does not matter what stage they are at, it may attract people some people who are newly diagnosed or some may be several years post treatment but still have concerns about recurrence. We will be supporting them with advice and practical skills to help them in maintaining optimum health and in empowering them to make informed decisions regarding their own health and well-being. We will be running the first Cancer Mavericks programme starting November, with an Introductory day on 15th November. If you know of anyone that may be interested in this support group please ask them to get in touch. Please share this so we can reach those people who would benefit from being a part of this initiative.
