I just watched a news clip on Lauren, the college freshman, who has a terminal brain tumor. Her greatest wish was to be able to train and participate in her teams first game. They moved the game up two weeks for her and changed the venue so it would hold the 10,000 people who showed up to cheer her on. She could barely make it through the training practices with her paralyzing headaches and lack of energy and coordination. But she never gave up. I was bawling my eyes out, listening to her coach say he had been praying for a way for her to score. However, on the day of the game, she was too weak to run up and down the court. But by the grace of God, the ball was moved to the end of the court, where she was, and she entered and did a perfect lay-up to score for her team! The commentator said neither he, nor his 56 year old cameraman could hold back the tears. I couldnt either. Later, she was able to score again. Afterwards, she told the crowd, with only weeks left to live, she was focusing all her energy on her website to fight cancer. Now...heres the irony. On the same newscast, it was announced that the 29 year old gal from Oregon had taken her own life. She also suffered from brain cancer. I am not posting this to judge by any means. Just some sobering food for thought on life, living....and death.....
