I just watched on Norwegian television, NRK 2 the strangest music program in a long time. Charles Hazlewood, conductor, was given 11 weeks to make instruments for a 44 people orchestra for playing the 1812 overture at Royal Albert Hall in a proms consert. The catch: All the instruments had to be made from scrap materials, found in a junkyard. Fascinating, odd and funny. Hard to take it serious, especially when the conductor and narrator looked a bit like Simon Pegg. But they made it to the consert, standing ovation.
