I keep all my receipts for taxes and each year I amazed that I spend around 1000 bucks on school stuff. Granted, I teach science so a lot of it is lab supplies..... It really adds up. Next time you see a teacher who you loved, say thank you. We cherish those moments and file them away for when we have a bad day or they cut our paychecks again. Teaching really is a calling. I have yet to meet someone who did it well who was in it for the salary. Last year I added up all the grades in my gradebook at the end of the year (16,780) I graded almost all of those papers at home since my planning is when i make copies, If I spent 2 min on each paper, i spent about 560 hours grading papers last year. That comes out to about 20 hours a week. If I had gotten overtime pay for those extra hours I worked, I would have made 32,700 dollars grading papers. Wow. Then I could buy lots of school supplies and not worry so much about breaking the budget. :)
