I keep an eye on other Richard Barretts (or is that Richards Barrett?) to a certain extent. I have since junior high, when there was a white supremacist named Richard Barrett that got interviewed on the evening news, and then within a few weeks of that happening, somebody said something to me about hearing I was a convicted murderer in Washington, DC. I dont know if the Richard Barrett I saw on TV 25 years ago was the same guy, but there was something of a notorious Richard Barrett who was a white supremacist in Mississippi (and was murdered in 2010). Theres also a Welsh composer by the name, and an opera coach/conductor (who, I was once told, is well-known enough that had I stuck with that line of work, I would have had to use a stage name). Richard Dicky Barrett is evidently the lead singer of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Jimmy Kimmels announcer. There was a Richard Barrett who was a Motown producer, and then there was a Richard Kewpie Dick Barrett who was something of a Golden Age minor baseball star, and who used to play for the Seattle Rainiers. Currently theres a Richard Barrett who is a British counterterrorism expert that shows up on news shows as an interviewee here and there. And then, of course, whoever it is that owns the domain name richardbarrett has had it under construction since something like 1996. Ive tried to offer to buy it from him more than once since hes not doing anything with it, but he doesnt return calls. Alas.
