I keep thinking about all of the awesomeness that Daniel and I experienced on our trip. One of the most touching moments that I just cant get over happened at the convention. Kate Mulgrew, who played the first and only female Star Trek captain on the show Voyager, took her position as a female role model so greatly to heart, that when one of her fans who had, what Daniel guessed to be, Downs Syndrome, Ms. Mulgrew not only knew her fans name, she also knew that it was her birthday - AND had the entire auditorium full of hundreds of people sing happy birthday to her. I still get choked up just thinking about it. Going to the convention, I was imagining a trip straight down to nerdsville. Instead, I was greeted by a convention full of intelligent, kind, sensitive, creative, talented and wonderful people who completely made up for all of the foolishness we had been stumbling into throughout the inebriated belly of Vegas. I hope to go to another Star Trek convention some day. It is not a geeks world. It is a place where awesomeness gathers. That is all.
