I kind of feel like we have this slight socetial tendency toward having pet mental illnesses. Like we treat them with varying degrees of legitimacy. Its not entirely uncommon to just dismiss depressed people as weak or apathetic, say they dont want to help themselves or just negate a depressed persons reality as negative. And why people have such an antipathy toward the deeply depressed is anybodys guess - I think one thing we can agree on is that depressed people are usually, well, too DEPRESSED to actively cause anybody any real trouble. That takes energy depressed people can seldom muster. But like, if somebody is (probably self) diagnosed with ADD, they can interrupt conversations with tangents, they can be loud, they can be distracting, they can be thoughtless and bumbling and forgetful. And lord forbid you ever suggest that perhaps the person in question is, well, excuse moi france, JUST KINDA STUPID, then youre worse than Osama Bin Laden and Satan himself in an orgy with Pol Pot and Agrippina. Weird stuff.
