I kinda hate having huge long statuses but this is regarding the surgery Im having.. A lot of people have been asking about it and its a little hard to explain so I thought Id write it all here- I have a stomach disease called Gastroparesis or GP. Pretty much the food in your stomach takes about 2-4 hours to break down and then move to the small intestines. Mine can take over 12 hours... So as a result I always feel full and nauseous and when I eat it hurts because theres too much food sitting in my stomach. I was tested for GP about a year ago and Ive been on meds for it since but its gotten worse over time because GP is a progressive disease and because a stomach surgery I had for my Acid Reflux this past Spring made it worse too. So they wanna try to fix it as best as they can so I can eat fully again and gain the weight back. Theres this sphincter at the end of the stomach thats always closed and only opens when the stomach is done digesting to put the food into the small intestines. Well my stomach is taking far too long to digest so theyre pretty much taking matters into their owns hands. So the surgery will just be the surgeons going in and cutting open the sphincter for good. Its a minimally invasive surgery so probably only about two or three more scars on my stomach to worry about. Not too shabby :)
