I know Drake is smart (as our Griffs are known to be)but this week, he amazed me. We brought him home from the trainer on Tuesday, and I was eager to to start training him with that new Garmin Alpha E-Collar, primarily the tone feature. My hope was to get him to recall with the tone, so in case hes out of earshot, I can get him to come in. So Tuesday and Wednesday, I put the collar on him, and started calling here every time I hit the tone, we did this maybe 10-12 each day. Today I took him out for a little walk, and wanted to test him out, so I had him sit, and walked away, hit the tone without calling out for him, and he came right away, we did it a bunch more times, I even did this when he was distracted running around chasing my 4y/old, and he came every time!! This is one smart kid :) My next thing I want to train him is to correct him or get his attention with the vibration mode, so I dont have to stim him, I know it can be useful, but Im not a big fan of having to shock my buddy, so hopefully getting him to understand the vibration will work.
