They then awarded $2.7 million (2 days worth of coffee earnings) as punishment against McDonalds. The Judge reduced that amount to $640k. The parties then settled for less than $500k. Once you hear all the facts, the jury award, much less the final settlement, were very reasonable for a 79 year old lady with third degree burns.
