I know I shouldnt be bringing this to open Facebook. That said... If this question applies to you, please inbox me with your thoughts. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO OR LIKE THIS POST!!!! PLEASE!!!! I know that at least 1% of my FB friends are willing to talk (Yes, Im talking to the 5 of you who inboxed me with replies of ask away or something similar!). I know that (statistically speaking) at least 10-20% of my FB friends have intimate and personal knowledge of my subject matter. I know that this isnt a choice, a preference, or an act of unrepentant rebelliousness. I know that! But.... There are many people within both the counseling profession and the pastoral care community who still desperately need to be educated. I will have my 15 minutes of fame in front of an audience of future counseling professionals next week. YOUR RESPONSES CAN IMPACT AT LEAST 25 FUTURE COUNSELORS! Finally, I know that approximately 90-100% of my FB friends know somebody within their inner circle who has intimate knowledge of my subject matter. Please, FB friends, STOP the circle of silence by helping me to educate future counselors! :) This is an open-ended question to anyone who wants to INBOX ME (ONLY!!!!) PART ONE: Putting Your Counseling Intake Session into Perspective, Straight Privilege Edition. Please tell me whatever you would want a straight white counselor (either male or female) to know about how to approach you in the most empathic and helpful manner possible. PART TWO (for only the strongest of souls): A) Have you ever been referred out after disclosing that you arent straight? B) What is the WORST thing you have ever heard from a counselor? Was that counselor a professionally licensed counselor in your state, or a pastoral counselor acting under the license of the cloth.? C) What would be the BEST thing you would ever hope to hear from a newly found counselor? Why?
