I know. Im just a silly feminist, making big deal out of nothing. So many of my friends are sharing this photo because recently the sailor in it passed away. May he RIP. The comments are terrifying though. This man grabbed a stranger and forced himself on her. Does it matter that it was only a kiss? Why should it matter? it is assault! The woman in the picture was a refugee, scared and confused, worried about her family in Austria. I had to do some reading but I was right, she was upset by it! But instead of recognizing that, people are upset because it is being pointed out that he assaulted her! You are right, she didnt report him to the police. That does not make his actions anything besides assault. I am so tired of this thought that woman should be okay wtih being grabbed at and forced to endure whatever another person wants to put them through. It is not okay. It is scary. When I first saw this picture, I didnt know the story behind it. I thought it was beautiful. I thought I was looking at a Sailor coming home to his loved ones.I thought he was kissing his wife or girlfriend. I was wrong. It is nothing more than a picture of a drunk man grabbing a woman and forcing himself on her. Call me a feminist making a mountain out of a mole hill. I dont care. Woman have feelings and we matter as well and our bodies are not for the use of others. They are ours.
